EU Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive
The EU RoHS Directive reduces the use of substances that pose risks to human health or the environment. The 6 RoHS prohibited substances have been eliminated, as well as 65 more voluntary substances from Toshiba products.
ISO14001 Certification
ISO14001 is a voluntary international standard that establishes requirements for an environmental management system (EMS). All 16 of Toshiba Corporations’ sites, and 97 of our Group sites are certified.

Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT)
Toshiba is proud to be a registered manufacturer with EPEAT. EPEAT’s top 16 notebooks, scoring 23 points out of 27 are all Toshiba. EPEAT’s test’s build on the requirements of Energy Star.
Energy Star Certification
Many of Toshiba’s notebooks are Energy Star certified. This means they meet energy use guidelines in a variety of modes; helping you save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Carbon Zero Scheme
As well as what Toshiba do we understand our Customers want to make a personal difference, therefore we offer the Carbon Zero scheme. When you donate £1.30, Toshiba will offset the lifetime carbon footprint of your new laptop by working with CO2 Balance and planting trees in one of the Toshiba woods in the UK. So far 30,000 have been donated.

EU Directive on Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
The EU Directive on WEEE protects the environment by ensuring producers are responsible for their products until the end of their lives. Toshiba works to determine end-of-life strategies for all our products, and in Europe we’ve already signed an agreement to participate in a return and recycling scheme.
